Resveratrol

Resveratrol Strength is a high quality liquid formula that has resveratrol as the main ingredient. Resveratrol has received a lot of attention in the news for its anti-aging and disease-fighting abilities. This is because resveratrol activates the SIRT1 gene. This is the gene that protects against diseases of aging and obesity.

In a 2015 review, the conclusion was that resveratrol lowers blood pressure because it relieves the pressure on artery walls.(4) This pressure is called systolic blood pressure. It is the upper number when you look at a blood pressure level. Generally, systolic blood pressure is supposed to increase as we age because our arteries get harder. When this number is high, it indicates a high risk for heart disease. Scientists believe that resveratrol is capable of lowering blood pressure because it relaxes the blood vessels. (5)

A review of studies exploring the connection between resveratrol and increased lifespan found that it was successful in 60% of the organisms that were studied. (6) Researchers believe this works similar to calorie restriction, which lengthens lives by altering the gene expression. (7)

The antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of resveratrol help decrease cognitive decline. This is because it decreases the plaques that form with Alzheimer’s disease. Several studies have found that resveratrol also protects brain cells from damage. (8) 

Resveratrol also protects against oxidative stress, which causes some of the complications of diabetes. Additionally, resveratrol activates AMPK. AMPK is a that metabolizes glucose. Therefore, it helps keep blood sugar levels from elevating.

Many studies have explored the role of MCTs in increasing ketones to increase brain health. In a study of 20 adults with cognitive impairment, significant increases in BHB were observed 90 minutes post-treatment when recall tests were administered. (12)  A 90 day, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel group study, 152 subjects with mild-to-moderate Alzheimer’s disease were given an oral MCT compound. Significantly elevated levels of BHB were seen two hours after administration when compared to placebo. Elevated BHB levels resulted in significant differences in Alzheimer’s Disease Assessment Scale-Cognitive Subscale (ADAS- Cog).(11)
